Amrita Vidyapeetham has announced the opening of their Chennai School of Engineering. This new campus, which will start taking students from 2019 academic year, is about 40KM from Chennai city, and about 90 KM from Tirupati. The nearest landmark near the new campus, which is located in the village named Vengal, is the Periyapalayathamman Temple on the State Highway SH50A.
Aesthetically placed between the Arani and Kosasthalaiyar rivers, The Chennai School of Engineering is spread out on a sprawling 13.55 acres of land with a built-up area of 24,956 sq.m. This is the fourth Amrita Schools of Engineering after Coimbatore, Bengaluru and Amritapuri.
Like the other three engineering schools, the School of Engineering at Chennai also offers students varied engineering programs, modelled on a choice-based credit system with continuous evaluation by faculty who mentor students. The school offers B. Tech. (Bachelor of Technology) programs in:

- Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The school has ample resources such as well-stocked library with about 8000 volumes and subscription to various journals and e-resources of IEEE, ASTM, J-Gate. The school also has Information & Communication Technology Services (ICTS), Training & Placement Cell, and Hostel accommodation for students.
